The Spirit of Yellowrock Canyon II

Pendant with old trade beads and turquoise

July 11th, 2020

Yesterday was a magical day. While out on a grocery run, we stopped at a Beach wayside...
a Raven wheeled over the parking lot then flew right by me at eye level about 5 feet away. Closest I've ever been to one. Big bird! Then moments later there were an unusual amount of whale spouts on the ocean... huge pod...
Later, very late at night, we saw the comet, Neowise. I made the first Yellowrock necklace.

July 13th 2020
I finished
"The Spirit of Yellowrock Canyon II" today.

Moonstone face, my Sterling Silver work with antique trade beads and American and Chinese turquoise, Dentalium shells.

$400.

Scarab Necklace
Pharaoh of the Nile

A Carnelian Scarab with a Kyanite "Sun" forms the centerpiece of this Egyptian style necklace. Carnelian, Sodalite and kyanite beads, along with Indonesian Silver beads complete the piece.

In Ancient Egyptian beliefs, the Scarab beetle, pushing it's ball of dung, was a symbol of how the Sun moves across the sky. They often added the wings of Horus, the Falcon God.
I have made necklaces like this back in the late 1970s... this is a revival.
24 inches long... large scarab not included.
$500.

dZi necklaceTibetian Magic Necklace 1

There is no doubt that Tibet is a land of Magic and Mystery. The Tibetan people prize their jewels of protection and spirituality, but they did not originate there. Mysterious and Ancient dZi beads, agate beads with diffused* geometric patterns, most likely came from India, while Turquoise from China, Coral from the Mediterranean, and Amber from the Baltic Sea completed the decorations.

Relatively recently, the art of dZi bead creation was rediscovered. While Ancient dZi sell for tens of thousands of dollars, now we can own a piece of the magic. These beads are said to absorb a bit of the owners karma over time.

The 8 eyed Dzi helps to guard against calamities and catastrophes. Assists the owner in finding and staying on their proper path.

This necklace consists of a modern 8 eyed dZi, capped with a sterling silver lotus on each end, plus Chinese Turquoise, dyed sponge coral and bamboo coral,  and Bone Skulls and beads, old Glass, Water Buffalo horn, and striped agate beads.
It is strung on nylon coated 49 strand stainless bead cord.

$96.00
diffused*: a diffusion of carbon or Iron plus heating,  colors the agate dark,
while later another chemical, also baked at high temperatures
causes the white lines.
It is a painstaking process.

Oaken wandWand of the Fey

Oak Wood Wand made from English Oak with Quartz Crystals, deerhide and Copper wire. This oak brance has a five pointed star in the center of it's rings. This is about 16 inches long.

As the month of Duir has the summer solstice in it, the Oak is a powerful symbol of Midsummer.
Money, success, strength, fertility, stability, health, healing, potency and good luck.

It is said that the voice of Jupiter can be heard in the rustling of the leaves. At midsummer, the future can be divined by listening to the wind in the leaves.

Because the Oak is a male tree, athames, and certain male-aspect wands and staves are especially potent when made of its wood.

Amethyst BraceletsLilac Amethyst Bracelet

Stretchy cord hold these nugget light Amethyst Beads, About 7 inches long.

Amethyst was known as a gem which would bring forth the highest, purest aspirations of humankind. Chastity, sobriety, and the control over one's thoughts were all attributes heightened by wearing Amethyst. The gem would guard against the anger of passion, and the violent or base nature of its wearer. Instead the stone encouraged calm, bravery and contemplation.

One legend says that the gemstone comes from the beautiful maiden Amethyst, a devotee of the goddess Diana. Diana turned the girl to clear stone to protect her from tigers conjured up by an angry Bacchus, the Greek god of wine. When Bacchus saw what he had caused, he was remorseful and poured his wine over the stone, staining it purple.
